Bioidentical Hormones are the exact replica of the hormones naturally produced by the body. The difference between bioidentical hormones and synthetic hormones is that, although both are created in a lab, synthetic hormones are NOT identical to the natural hormones in the body.
Bioidentical Hormones are hormones derived from plants, such as wild yams or soy. They are structurally identical to the hormones produced by the human body. The Bioidentical Hormones can come in the form of topical creams/gels, injectables, pellets and depending on the hormone – some may be oral.
Because Bioidentical Hormones are identical to the hormones naturally produced in the body, it has been found that these hormones have less side effects than synthetic hormones. Less risk does not mean no risk, however. And there are some groups of people that hormone replacement may not be recommended. The risks, the advantages and disadvantages of BHRT are always discussed with each patient contemplating treatment.
Some patients notice immediate results, and some may not notice profound results for several months. It all depends on the degree of hormone imbalance, and what hormones need balancing. Remember, it took a long time for your hormones to get unbalanced, so it may take some time to see results. But in the end, the results are worth it!
While your insurance company may reimburse you for some of the testing, we do not directly bill your insurance company. However, much of the lab testing is likely covered, depending on what is required to do a complete health analysis.
We encourage you to continue with your own PCP while we treat you for your hormone balancing, weight loss and/or aesthetics. All of the recommended routine health maintenance must continue to be done through your PCP or medical provider, including: Paps/Gynecologic Wellness Exams, Testicular and Prostate Exams, Mammograms, DEXA scans, etc.
Absolutely not! In fact, these two are very complementary. As you are receiving integrative treatment here, the more likely your PCP will find less “disease” to treat. As your PCP is managing your heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, etc, the care you receive here will aid in achieving a better result overall as your body becomes more balanced and more capable of healing.
